31DC2017 - Day 26: Inspired by a pattern
Another late one, oopsies!
So today, I chose to do some nails based on a chessboard pattern - just to mention it right off the bat: Sarah from Chalkboard Nails did the exact same thing a couple years back and I definitely remembered that mani while thinking about what to do for today.
I especially want to apologize for the crappy picture quality today! (I took this pic in a different setting than normal, so that's probably why it's even worse than usual - I also didn't watermark it ^^)
Colors used:
- essence - miss captain (muted blue)
- essence - ? (silver foil from a tie&dye set from a couple years back)

31DC2017 - Day 24: Inspired by a book
Yeah, I know - not technically just "a" book. And honestly, I never read the books (I'm speaking of Harry Potter if you weren't aware) - I didn't get into the franchise until aout 4 years ago. I'm good at resisting hyped up movies and books.
Soooo yeah, I chose to represent the four houses - based on the color scheme and pattern of their ties. I didn't have a subtle enough yellow, so it's a bit too bright for my taste, and it doesn't go well with the rest of the nails.
As always, I suck at freehanding lines, please forgive the squiggliness!
Colors used:
- China Glaze - I Sea The Point (bright blue)
- essence - let's take an elfie (shimmery white)
- butter LONDON - British Racing Green (dark green)
- essence - we will spock you! (silver linear holo)
- China Glaze - Happy Go Lucky (sunshine yellow)
- JESSICA - Batty (shimmery black)
- essence - pink & perfect (burgundy)
- OPI - 18K Ginza Gold (yellow gold)

31DC2017 - Day 12: Stripes
For today's "stripes" prompt, I went for some holographic fall-colored horizontal stripes! I am really pleased with how these turned out! I'm not usually good at freehanding stripes, but for some reason, these weren't all that hard!
These did end up a bit lumpy in places, as well as having some uneven edges, but considering I freehanded all of these, I am willing to look past it. I mixed linear and scattered holos and I'm just really really happy about the color scheme. I wore these to the ice skating rink today and I just couldn't stop staring at them.
Colors used:
- essence - we will spock you! (silver linear holo)
- ILNP - Diablo (red scattered holo)
- Dance Legend - Pied Piper (green scattered holo)
- Dance Legend - Anthem (purple linear/scattered holo)
- Zoya - Dream (blue scattered holo)

31DC2016 - Day 31: Honor Nails You Love
I've done it again! 31 consecutive days of nail art!
I am quite glad it's over for now. I've been feeling rather uninspired the past few days - coming up with something new every day is quite tiring!
This final mani is a recreation of this design by MarineLP. I really love the simplicity, while still being complex at the same time. I have also never done a true dotted gradient, so I got to try that out.
I used Something Sweet by China Glaze as the base - it was the closest match I could find in my stash. I'm not the biggest fan of baby pinks to be honest. I then used my dotting tools to create the gradient. I used black, white and silver (Orly's Shine).
This is so easy to do, but looks quite interesting nonetheless. I love the contrast of the sparkly silver against the creme polishes.
Anyway, I'm off for a while now. Uni is starting on Monday and I'll be super busy in October.
Thanks for reading! x.

31DC2016 - Day 18: Half Moons
Ugh. That about describes my opinion on half moon manis. I can't do them and I'm not sure I even like the look. Regardless, it was today's prompt, so I just buckled up and did my best to produce something remotely good. Did I succeed? Kind of.
I went for something very simple. In fact, I might have made it too easy for myself. I started out with one coat of essie's frock n roll. That's right, ONE coat. Amazing. I then created some guidelines with a matte topcoat, just so I had some sort of idea where to put my dots.
I then followed the guidelines and put down dots with Orly's Shine, a gorgeous sparkly silver foil. I topped it off with some glossy topcoat and the guidelines became invisible.

31DC2016 - Day 17: Glitter
Yay, glitter! I'm a sucker for some good holo glitter, so I decided to incorporate that into today's design.
This design is fairly straightforward, so I won't bother writing how I did it.
Colors used:
- black
- claire's - Magic Show (silver holo microglitter)

Holographic abstraction
Wee, it's my first post in 2016!
I made the resolution to update this blog more this year, so I decided to start working on that today. Here's the result. (Note: I am still going to university, so if I miss a week or two (or a month), that's probably why)

Happy New Year! - simple New Year's Eve manicure!
Happy New Year everyone!
For this year's New Year's (Eve) manicure, I decided to keep it a lot more simple than the previous year, where I spent about 5 hours on my design. It barely took me 30 minutes for this one, so that's definitely a plus, considering I've been pretty busy lately.
I decided to use my all-time favorite polish for this design. I got this polish at Christmas, but it's way prettier than anything else I own. I paired it with black, to keep it simple and elegant.
I won't keep you any longer, go on and celebrate!
(Excuse my red fingers, I dyed my hair the day before!)

31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 18: Half Moons
Boy, I do NOT like half moons. I don't even know what it is about them, they just tend to look really weird on me. Also, I've had 4 other ideas that absolutely did not want to work out. I do like the contrast between the metal polish and the muted blue.
I don't know if my half moons are the right size or shape, but at least I found a way to make it work out somehow.
Colors used:
essence - miss captain (muted blue-grey)
essence - city girls rule! (silver) [destashed]

31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 15: Delicate Print
Alright. Delicate print. I was a little lost trying to figure out what to do here. I ended up doing lace, because I'm boring. Sorry.Last time I did the challenge I meant to do a lace design, but it looked TERRIBLE. I'm not exaggerating, I promise. This one is so much better. It actually looks like lace. The one I did back in 2012 looked more like a mesh type pattern. And a very hideous one too.
In this mani, I combined a lace pattern with small polka dots on the rest of my nails. I really like this combo!
Colors used:
Catrice - Auber-Genious (muted dark purple)
claire's - Liquid Metal Silver (silver) [destashed]
