Cupcake Nail Art

I'm back with some more nail art! This design was inspired by a recent trip to my favorite vegan bakery. I even chose to paint some of her own cupcake variations.

The base on these is Dance Legend's Termo Trio 1. It's a stunning polish that goes from a blue-toned pastel purple to a more red-toned medium purple all the way to a dark purple. My nails are in the middle phase in the above picture.

I chose to mattify this design, simply because it fit the theme a bit more and made it look like vintage illustrations. I used waaay too many polishes to list them all.

Here is a bonus picture of  my nails in the warmest state, starting to cool down a bit at the tips:

Another year older ... gitd birthday nails ♥

So, apart from yesterday being Inauguration Day, it was also my 20th birthday! I celebrated with my family and it was just a really nice day all in all. I did some simple nail art to celebrate.

I started out with 3 coats of painted polish - Chasing Rainbows. Damn, this polish is so cool! It's a white crelly with tons of rainbow glitter, both matte, metallic and holo. I love her crellies a lot!

On my ring finger, I painted on the number 20 with aurora, also by painted polish. I love that one a lot too, especially since it glows in the dark!
And then on the rest of my nails, I did some polka dots with a glow in the dark topcoat. Et voilĂ  - some hidden nail art!

ICYMI, here are last year's birthday nails.

Happy New Year 2017!

Happy new year everybody. I sincerely hope 2017 will be better regarding world news and celebrity deaths. 2016 was an eventful, but overall quite neutral year for me. I have set some goals for this next year (which includes some blog stuff as well), so I'm very excited to get started on those! I might mention my progress here or there, but it won't take over my posts, I promise.

So here's to 2017 and all the joy it may bring us.

(side note: Sorry for the crappy pic, I totally forgot to take a picture while I still had natural light :o)

Colors used:
- black
- essence - grey zone (light grey)
- LOOK - street (medium grey) [destashes]
- China Glaze - Concrete Catwalk (charcoal grey)

A (Belated) Mickey Mouse Christmas

I am so ridiculously late posting this, I'm really sorry!

Truth be told, I didn't do any festive nail art for Christmas Eve or Christmas Day this year, I actually painted these the night after Christmas Day. It's not that I didn't want to, I just didn't feel inspired enough to actually start anything.

I love the base of these! I started out with 3 coats of Dance Legend - Pied Piper, which I actually got as a Christmas present from my family this year! It's a stunning Christmas tree green with a subtle sprinkling of holographic microglitter.

I then painted Mickey's face on my UberMat (also a present this year) and used it as a decal. I didn't paint them directly on my nails because I hadn't done any kind of pre-sketching or planning, so I didn't have a good enough feel for the proportions and I didn't want to have to re-do the base too.

The pattern on my thumb is just a mix of Mickey Mouse heads and smaller dots, nothing too fancy.

Colors used:
Dance Legend - Pied Piper (green base)
essie - spin the bottle (nude)
essie - forever yummy (red)
black, white

31DC2016 - Day 31: Honor Nails You Love

I've done it again! 31 consecutive days of nail art!

I am quite glad it's over for now. I've been feeling rather uninspired the past few days - coming up with something new every day is quite tiring!

This final mani is a recreation of this design by MarineLP. I really love the simplicity, while still being complex at the same time. I have also never done a true dotted gradient, so I got to try that out.

I used Something Sweet by China Glaze as the base - it was the closest match I could find in my stash. I'm not the biggest fan of baby pinks to be honest. I then used my dotting tools to create the gradient. I used black, white and silver (Orly's Shine).

This is so easy to do, but looks quite interesting nonetheless. I love the contrast of the sparkly silver against the creme polishes.

Anyway, I'm off for a while now. Uni is starting on Monday and I'll be super busy in October.
Thanks for reading! x.

31DC2016 - Day 30: Inspired by a tutorial

(Sorry for the crappy picture) This mani is inspired by this tutorial by Lacquertude. I fell in love with this design as soon as I saw it, so I hope I did it justice! I did alter the process a bit to fit my material and polishes, but I am quite happy with the finished product.

Colors used:
- white
- Maybelline - Lavender Lies (lilac/lavender)
- OPI - Do You Have This Color In Stock-Holm? (dark purple)
- wibo - Nr. 2 (muted pink) [destashed]

31DC2016 - Day 29: Inspired by the supernatural

Another glow in the dark mani, yay! I knew that nothing was gonna beat my nails for this prompt last year, so I chose to go for something a bit simpler and more fun this year!
